Privacy policy
The short version: we only collect what you type into our forms, we use it to keep you updated about Gym Time and to talk with partner gyms and studios, and we never sell it. Crowd levels on this site are counts of people, never information about who is at a gym. You can ask us to see, fix, or delete your information at any time.
This policy explains how [Gym Time legal name] ("Gym Time," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects personal information on gym-time-app.pages.dev (the "Site"). We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). This policy covers the Site only. When the Gym Time app launches, it will come with its own privacy policy explaining any additional information it uses.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Waitlist: your email address and, if you choose to add it, the name of your gym or studio.
- Partner requests: your gym or studio name and your work email.
- Messages: anything you include when you email us.
- Accounts: if you create a Gym Time account, your first name, email address, and password. Your password is stored securely by our account provider and we never see it.
- Workouts: the workouts you build, your weekly schedule, and the exercises you check off. This is private to your account.
- Gender (optional): if you choose to add it in your profile settings. It is never shown to anyone. If you choose Woman, it unlocks the Women's space. When check-ins launch, it will only ever be counted as part of an anonymous gender mix for a gym area, shown as a range and only when enough people are present that no one can be identified.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the services that run our Site receive basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. This happens when your browser loads the Site and its fonts, maps, and live data. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics tools on the Site today. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy first.
Crowd and class data
The live crowd levels, map, and class information on the Site show counts, such as "42 people right now." They come from partner facilities and from occupancy information that some campus recreation centres publish. This data is never linked to a person, and we never collect or display who is at a gym or studio.
How we use it
- To add you to the waitlist and tell you when Gym Time launches at your gym or studio.
- To send you occasional product updates, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- To decide which gyms and studios to launch with first, based on the names people submit.
- To respond to partnership requests and messages.
- To run your account, save your workouts and schedule, and show your progress back to you.
- To keep the Site secure and working properly.
We will only send you emails you agreed to receive by joining the waitlist or contacting us. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and we will act on unsubscribe requests within 10 business days.
Who we share it with
We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Site, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Formspree receives and stores our form submissions.
- Supabase runs sign in and stores account and workout data.
- Cloudflare hosts the Site and runs the service that delivers live crowd data.
- Google Fonts and cdnjs deliver the fonts and map code the Site uses.
- OpenStreetMap provides the map images on the live map.
Some of these providers are based in, or store information in, the United States or other countries. When information is stored outside Canada, it may be subject to the laws of that country, including access by authorities there. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to a buyer or successor if Gym Time is reorganized, merged, or sold, in which case this policy will continue to apply.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and workout data for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time from the account menu, which permanently deletes your workouts, schedule, and history.
We keep waitlist information until Gym Time launches and you have had a chance to download the app, or until you ask us to remove it, whichever comes first. We keep partner contact information for as long as we are in discussions or working together, and for up to 2 years afterward for our business records. After that, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including secure connections (HTTPS), access limited to people who need it, and reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take protecting your information seriously and will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- show you the personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your information or remove you from the waitlist; or
- withdraw your consent to receiving emails.
Email us at [privacy email] and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If the changes are significant, we will tell waitlist members by email before they take effect.
